Information about Sculptures
They all start as a block of wood. After carving them into different shapes, I start covering them with metal. Most of the metal is scrap that I find where ever I can. I love the rusted metal and the different colors and textures that are created with combined with aluminum, copper, and brass.
By attaching the metal with a variety of brads and nails, this affords me the opportunity to create interesting patterns and textures. While all the metal could make the objects looks heavy-handed, the use of shapes and colors reflects the natural forms of nature.
Because I make them one at a time, no two are alike. That's that fun part. You never know how it is going to turn out. I usually try to keep the fish or snakes either warm or cool in color. The metal I use will dictate the color.
